Steady hands, honest work
Klai Time was founded in Bangkok to serve the people who care about the watches they own — not to chase volume, but to do the work properly.
← Back to HomeA workshop that takes its time
Klai Time opened on Silom Road in Bangkok after the founder, Nathapong Wiriyakan, spent a decade learning movement repair under a watchmaker in Chiang Mai. The name — roughly "distant time" in Thai — reflects an idea that a watch connects its owner to something that outlasts daily noise.
We handle a small number of watches at any one time. That keeps the work considered rather than hurried. Each piece is logged, assessed on its own terms, and returned with a written record of what was done and why.
We work exclusively on mechanical movements — hand-wound and automatic — and we are candid when a watch is beyond sensible repair. Honest advice serves the owner better than a job done to fill an invoice.
What we are here to do
Diagnose accurately before recommending anything, so clients spend only what the watch genuinely needs.
Explain technical findings in plain terms, so clients can follow what is happening without guessing.
Return each watch in better condition than it arrived, with a service record the next owner can read too.
Keep pricing transparent and agreed in advance, with no additions appearing after the work has started.
The people at the bench
A small team with focused responsibilities. Everyone here has a direct role in the quality of the work.
Nathapong Wiriyakan
Founder & Lead Watchmaker
Over fifteen years working with mechanical movements, with a focus on full overhauls and diagnostic assessment.
Siriporn Phommas
Movement Technician
Handles mainspring replacements and barrel servicing. Trained in precision cleaning and lubrication protocols.
Kanokwan Teerapat
Client Liaison
Manages all client communication, watch intake, and progress updates. Ensures nothing is lost in translation between workshop and owner.
How we work
These are the practices that shape every job, large or small.
Written intake record
Every watch is photographed and logged on arrival. Condition notes are made before any tools are used.
Calibrated timing equipment
We use a timing machine to measure amplitude, beat error, and rate across multiple positions for each serviced movement.
Ultrasonic cleaning
Movement parts are cleaned using ultrasonic equipment and appropriate solvents before reassembly and lubrication.
Secure storage
Watches in our care are kept in a locked, climate-controlled area. Access is limited to workshop staff only.
Service documentation
A service record is provided with each completed job. It notes the work done, parts replaced, and timing results.
Approval at each stage
For longer jobs, we contact the owner before proceeding past a diagnosis or when unexpected findings arise.
Mechanical watch repair in Bangkok
Mechanical watches — particularly vintage and mid-century pieces — require periodic service to remain reliable. Oils dry and degrade, mainsprings fatigue, and worn parts affect timing accuracy. A watch that has not been serviced in a decade may still run, but it is running under more stress than it should be.
At Klai Time we focus on three defined services: movement diagnosis, mainspring and barrel work, and full mechanical overhaul. These cover the most common requirements for mechanical watches and allow us to be specific about what each job involves and costs. We do not offer vague "service packages" — every job is quoted from what the watch actually needs.
Our workshop is on Silom Road in Bang Rak, a part of Bangkok accessible by BTS and well known for its commercial character. We welcome visitors who want to discuss a watch in person, and we are equally comfortable communicating by email or phone for clients who prefer to arrange things remotely before coming in.
