What you get when you work with us
A repair workshop where the process is explained, the pricing is fixed, and no work begins without your say-so.
← Back to HomeSix things that shape how we work
Diagnosis before repair
We assess the watch and report what we find before any work is recommended or priced.
Price agreed upfront
The cost is fixed before we start. No extras appear after the work is done.
Calibrated timing checks
Every serviced movement is tested on a timing machine across multiple positions before return.
Written service record
A document recording what was done accompanies every completed watch.
Plain-language explanations
Technical findings are described in a way you can follow without specialist knowledge.
Secure handling
Every watch is logged and stored securely. Handling is limited to workshop staff only.
Experience with mechanical movements
Nathapong Wiriyakan, the lead watchmaker at Klai Time, has worked with mechanical movements for over fifteen years. His training covered hand-wound and automatic calibres from a range of manufacturers, including complicated and vintage pieces.
That depth of experience matters when diagnosing unusual faults or deciding whether a worn part needs replacement or can be adjusted. Some judgements can only come from handling a wide range of movements over a long period.
- 15+ years working with mechanical calibres
- Trained under an established watchmaker in Chiang Mai
- Experience with vintage and modern hand-wound movements
- Honest assessment of what a repair can and cannot achieve
- Timing machine assessment for amplitude, beat error, and rate
- Ultrasonic cleaning of movement parts
- Appropriate lubricants for each movement type
- Multi-position timing after overhaul
The right tools, used properly
Good equipment matters but it does not substitute for skill. At Klai Time we use a timing machine to measure how a movement is running — amplitude, beat error, and daily rate across six positions — rather than relying on a rough bench test.
Ultrasonic cleaning removes residue and dried lubricant from parts properly, and the correct lubricants are selected for each component. These details affect how long a service lasts.
You are kept in the picture
We contact you when the diagnosis is complete, before any work begins. For longer jobs we provide updates along the way. If something unexpected comes up — a worn part that needs replacing, a complication that was not immediately visible — we discuss it with you before proceeding.
You are never left waiting and wondering. And if you prefer to communicate by phone rather than email, that is equally fine.
- Contact after diagnosis, before any work
- Progress updates on longer jobs
- Approval required for unexpected findings
- Response within one working day
- Prices stated clearly on the website
- Quote agreed before work starts
- Parts costs quoted separately, never added silently
- No obligation after the diagnosis
What you see is what you pay
Service prices are published and fixed. A diagnosis is priced at ฿3,500. Mainspring and barrel work at ฿5,700. A full overhaul at ฿7,900. If parts are required, those costs are quoted separately and confirmed with you first.
There are no administration fees, no surcharges for vintage watches, and no price that changes between the quote and the invoice.

Distinctive features of how we operate
Component glossary on request
We can walk you through the parts of the movement involved in your service — what they do and why they affect the watch's behaviour. This is for clients who want to understand, not just be told.
Multi-position timing results shared
For overhauls, the timing machine readout is included in your service record. You can see how the movement tested — amplitude, beat error, and rate in each position.
Small caseload, not volume
We take a limited number of watches at once. This keeps the work thoughtful. No watch is hurried past to clear space for the next one.
Candid when repair is not sensible
If a watch would cost more to repair than it is worth, we say so. Honest advice at the diagnosis stage saves you money and time.
